Gender & Family
In accordance with the aims and reglemetations of the host institutions the Cluster actively pursues the aim of gender equality in research during all appointments and vacancies. A further important part of the gender equality measures of the Cluster involve the enhancement of compatibility of familiy and career and the support of parents.
Equality at the host institutions
Both universities and the Research Center Borstel were awarded by the Hertie foundation and the "berufundfamilie GmbH" with the well recognized seal of quality "Familiengerechte Hochschule/Institution" in addition the University opf Lübeck was awarded with the rating TOTAL E-Quality for outstanding activities and sustainable success in gender equality.
All members of the Cluster can take advantage of all offers of the host institutions independently of their job location.
Equality Measurements
The Cluster of Excellence "Inflammation at Interfaces" proactively approaches female scientists for open vacancies and strictly follows equality based appointment procedure.
Therefore the Cluster was able to win over some excellent young females scientists as professors:Prof. Dr. Ute Nöthlings (Epidemiology), Prof. Dr. Karina Reiß (Epithelial Protease Inhibitors), Prof. Dr. Susanne Sebens (Inflammation Associated Carcinogenesis), Prof. Dr. Almut Nebel (Genetics), Prof. Dr. Anika Wagner (Molecular Nutrition)
The Cluster cooperates with the host institutions in female specific mentoring programs and activities.
An utmost concern of the Cluster is to improve the visibility of female scientists in the puplic and scientific community. The Cluster minds an appropriate representation of the work of female scientists in own symposia and publication of reports ( e.g. Cluster News and Yearly Reports)
